Beach waved hair is a hot trend. It really doesn’t matter how old you are, whether your hair is long or short, it looks good on just about everyone. Maybe you haven’t quite cracked the code on how to wave your hair, or maybe you struggle with getting it to stay. I’ve created a video tutorial that is going to show you products, tools, and techniques on how to get perfect beach waves.
The products I chose for Yasmin’s Medium textured and thick density hair will give a light hold, natural feel and touch-ability. You can definitely use products that have more control if your hair has a hard time holding on to curls or waves. However, just make sure that the product doesn’t leave the hair hard as this will look less beach wave-esque. I personally like it once the waves have gone a little flat as it looks more natural and less done. So don’t be worried if your hair doesn’t look exactly how it did right after it was done.

Using a dry shampoo is a great way to add some volume and texture to your hair. This works well for all hair types. It creates that day-two feel if your hair is a little too silky and soft for waves.

Redken’s 15 Quick Tease spray creates texture and has a very light hold. This stuff smells divine (and tastes good. Don’t eat it! It’s heavy in the air and when you spray it you usually get a “taste”), you can use a different hairspray in it’s place. It won’t help a whole lot with hold, but proves to work on all hair types

If you have thick, medium or really dry hair then using a shine spray helps maintain dry frizzy hair and puts some shine back into otherwise dull hair. Use sparingly after you have curled all of your hair. It’s also a great product to use on damp hair to help keep moisture in your hair.

Tools
Sectioning the hair is important if you want the hairstyle to last. If you take too large of sections then the heat from the iron is unable to properly distribute across the strand. Duck bill clips are particularly helpful in keeping the hair sectioned.

Using a cheap curling iron could be the source of all kinds of hair trouble. Dryness, heat damage, frizz, non-lasting style, and more of the same. So it’s obviously important to choose an iron that is going to be better for your hair and make it look amazing. My personal favorite right now is the ceramic Babyliss Nano Titanium Curling iron. This is perfect for all hair types.
If you want tighter waves then choose their smaller 1″ iron. |
